Safe potable water onboard offshore and ship applications is not a “sure thing”.  A number of factors may cause the concentration of microorganisms in the potable water systems to increase above safe level. Disinfection is the most common remedy for preventing the spread of water borne diseases from pathogenic microorganisms.
